I started the travel 25 May from Malpensa Milano Airport,
I had time to do the Bandscan of the FM you may listen from the airport 2nd
floor departure waiting hall. The most interesting matter was to remark the
famous local area station called Radio Lupo Solitario on 90.7 MHz is NO MORE
HEARABLE !!! Cause RTL 102.5 is totally clobbering the frequency 90.7 MHz from
90.70 RTL 102.5 Netro-La Bossola (BI) RTL102.5 5218
Another exemple of "FAR WEST GUNS SIGNALS" the most big ...over the most little....
that's normal life style in the Italian FM Band...
My flight Lufthansa go/back to Barcelona just 88 Euros. The Jet was just half
full, it seems all people fly the weekends... so other days reduced prices. I
listened with my DEGEN 1103 into the flight, no problem if you utilize
headphones and you stand near the windows sets, "A" or "F" sets.
The complete flight bandscan will be edited later. Most interesting catch 93.9

Perfect landing & perfect weather +24 C in Barcelona T1 terminal.
The new Terminal T1 ... a giant complex in front of the old T1 now called T2....
the Bus to go to Barcelona city called Airport Express is waiting for you
outside Terminal T1 ...so no problems...to find it..
Bit more complicated if you ..have some one who is going to keep you
by car .... not allowed to park the car in front the departure hall
so ....in this case you need to keep the FREE BUS called "T1 to T2"
"tiiionetoootiiitooo" hi !!!! starting neat the other Bus... in 7 minutes you
arrive in front the old Terminal ...and you meet soon your friend waiting for
you ... in my case ...Jordi Brunet with his Super Car Alfa Romeo red.
I must add the new Terminal T1 is funtastic bombastic !!! hi !!!
The "carritos" are naturally FREE ! in Malpensa Airport cost 1 Euro coin.
We stopped around 1930 hours (1730 UTC) at Garraf Park Parking to TEST the FM
band and with surprise on 99.2 MHz we detected strong signal from Algeria in //
94.7 MHz.

Our friend from Algeria Alahcene explained in an Email message later on at this

26 May Wednesday a bright sunny day in Catalunya.
Jordi Brunet kindly took me by car to RENFE rail station of Saint Vicent de
Calders, 18 km south to Vilanova, cause my train called Catalunya Express did
not stopped in Vilanova...
On the street at 0930 local time we stopped to look at Radio Cubelles
but in Calle Colon 7 in Cubelles town, the door was OPEN... but no one in the
station cause they OPEN at 1000 their activities ... this explained us the kind
lady cleaning the offices...

They have recently printed the book story of the station.
At 1000 we arrived to the UNDER REPAIR RENFE Station of Saint Vicent de Calders....
ticket to ride till Valencia Estacion del Nord 20.20 ?
good price ...but ...no good quality service ... too slow speed.
train arrived with 20 minutes delay ... full of people ... cause the low
price... if you keep the Talgo or Alaris train (they don't stop in the
DEPRESSING station of Saint Vicent de C.)they stop in Tarragona
you pay 3 times the price !!!!!!! cause is only First class service...
So if you will travel to Spain if you have "prisa" hurry ..keep Speedy Trains...
if you don't have hurry ...keep Express Train ...

Well the travel needed 4 hours... most NOISY moment the ..train needed
to go to TORTOSA ...seems a real MISSION ...cause at La Aldea town the train
....go to TORTOSA and from Tortosa the train come back to La Aldea... it is not
a joke... but some tourists on the Train may be used to transit very ... speedy
at 146 km/h at La Aldea with an ALARIS train ...
supposed the driver of the Train was MAD ! hi !
This "touristic" EXPRESS train ...hi ! lost 45 minutes for this STOP.
Question is : why don't put a BUS service of RENFE from Tortosa till La Aldea
and viceversa to solve this matter ????
Finally at 1420 I get my feet in the Valencia Estacion del Nord it is big, but
with ONLY 10 TRACKS ... so is under big works to make it more functional...may
be. The Station has also a Baggages secure room.
I needed to go to Central Bus Station, so I opted with Taxi... and the cost of 4
EURO confirmed to me it was a good idea.
The RENFE train go till Gandia ... but from Gandia to Denia no RENFE just Bus
service.
Bus Central station of Valencia has been modernized, with new internal hall (with
baggages room if you want to let them secure)
Mobiles stairs ... ALSA Bus has a large selling windows office,
the Bus ticket just 9.60 ?. By chanche I arrived at 1450 and the first bus for
Denia started at 1500 hours ... in Spain this time of the day is called "THE
SIESTA HOURS"..so the bus was almost desert !!!!...hi...
Still sunny day and even bit more hot till 31 degree C. in Valencia.
At around 1640 I arrived to Denia square where is still located the OPEN Bus
station ... the Alsa office are in an old house...same place of the past 65
years probably...hi.
I reserved my back travel friday morning 1020 hours.
By Taxi I arrived to the magnificent Hotel LOS ANGELES (referred to the Angels
of Mr.God ...not to the USA town).
Located in the LAS MARINAS coast area north to Denia is a great place to stay :

May be a bit priced with 76 Euro low season a Double room single use with sea
view at second floor... looking at south east, with breakfast buffett. So I get
room 211... they have Grundig TV plate model .... and at 1805 I had my bath into
Mediterranean "MARE NOSTRUM" sea... clean water ...a bit cold 18 C. ..but hot
wind from south called "GARBI" coming from Lybia Africa Deserts made good the
bath..don't tell pls to Mr.Gheddafi or he will ask a TAX for the use...
Around 2100 local time I started the FM Band Scan.
A real surprise the Hotel has FREE INTERNET access, for the clients... a
portable PC ...so I had the possibility to look at my mails.
The complete FM LOG will be edited separately. Rispect the 2006 log
has been many changes ....but the List FM of Juan Carlos solved almost 95% of
them ...

I got in two days LOGGINGS stations from : Barcelona, Tarragona, Castellon, of
corse Valencia, Eivissa Baleares, Mallorca, Menorca, Alicante (in fact Denia is
Alicante Province) Just one short Esporadic 89.5 MHz the first day ...from
Portugal

No receptions from Italy and no Receptions from Algeria or Tunisia.
If you see a Map of Denia coast is covered to South West by MONTGO'
hills of granite ... so this may explain the missing of African signals which
are ..many if you go to the other side of the Montgo
...may be next time I will be in Denia I will try to test this area.
(there are many daily busses to go to Javea)
However the Missing of Italian FM stations I guess was related just
to the bad weather located South to the Baleares Islands the 26 6 27 May.
In fact the 27 May evening it arrived a storm from East - North East
on Denia ...and immediately bye bye TROPOs ... hi !
On the morning of the 28 May at 0330-0500 UTC I had time to do a MW Bandscan ...nothing
of special but heard good signals from TWR BENIN 1566 kHz and VOA SAO TOME' 1530
kHz ...the complete MW BANDSCAN will be edited later on.
On same morning 28 May I said bye bye to hotel Los Angeles ...

Saturday 29 MAY we had the DX MEETING at the PARK GARRAF, in the Pic Martel
Parking area, a MIRADOR 300 meters above sea level.
First to arrive Gianni Palandra with TAXI driver from his Hotel at 0630 UTC. At
0930 UTC arrived Dario & Jordi , and around 1130 UTC arrived Antonio & Tomas.
Good Tropo conditions in the afternoon after 1200 UTC, with opening to MAROC
Esporadic with 4 stations identified at 1500-1515 UTC.

I have survived the transfere from Barcelona to Cadiz coast yesterday 1st June.
The Travel with VUELING-IBERIA has been very good, not so many peoples, seat A27
looking to Africa coast in the flight..Barcelona-Sevilla..so I got many !!!
Algerian stations (details LOG flight later on) We arrived in Sevilla Airport 15
minutes before the schedule .... but the problem suddenly arrived, the BUS
tranferring from Airport to Sevilla center town .... arrived afet 1 hour and 20
minutes.... no ideas WHY THIS ???
Price 2,30 EURO .... temperature 44 C outside the BUS .... look like to be in
DUBAI CITY ... so I arrived at BUS STATION PRADO del REY too late to get the BUS
to Chiclana ....and had to wait till 2000 Hours for the last one !!! price 9,60
Euro .... so I had time to do FM BANDSCAN of SEVILLA FM ...and PICODEs control
with ATS 909 modified. Details will be edited later on...
Also the ride resulted QRMed by a wwoman who had CONVULSIONS due to the hot
outside and the freeze BUS temperatures ... 44 C outside ...18C inside ... so at
Jerez we stopped and a AMBULANCIA arrived to ..take care of the young blonde
lady .... 30 minutes lost.... then you travel you must always calculate
unexpected happenings...
However at 2230 we stopped at CHICLANA de la Frontera 15 km south CADIZ (the Bus
do not entered in Cadiz)....luckly.
A Taxi rapidly took me to La Barrosa a natural beach 12 km south to Chiclana de
la Frontera ....

Today 1 June I had my first FM DXING day...above the Terrase at first floor
looking to South WEST the Atlantic Ocean ....
I had time to listen to 54 differents MOROCCO stations ... Tropo was good to
Marocco .... less good to Portugal Algarve area, got 12 Stations from Algarve,
also got an ESPORADIC from CANARY ISLE on 100,00 MHz RADIO BAHIA from Tenerife
... great !!!!
The only unexpected happening has been after the 0900 hours the arrival of a FOG
!!! Yes FOGS !! Look like to be in LONDON in Winter time...
can't believe .... and a very COLD AIR from SOUTH WEST ....
The planet is going crazy ???? 44 C in Sevilla and Cold FOGs on the coast
???.....
Tomorrow I will try again ....

Saturday 05 June a day to be remembered in my life !
The propagation today has offered here in the PLAYA LA BARROSA, 30 km south from
CADIZ, in sunny Andalucia, a spectacular SUPER TROPO opening for 6 hours ! to
Canary Islands.
I was listening frequency after frequency and found a RNE R.2 station at 1010
UTC not listed in Andalucia.... so I controlled the list edited by Juan Carlos

On 90.20 MHz a Marocco station after long listening tourned to be MFM SOUSS new
TX not listed in // 96.50 MHz so it is 100 % ID....but TX ????.
Another Marocco mystery on 87.80 MHz finally tourned out to be a new TX of Radio
Atlantic (they just say ATLANTIC) in // 106.90 MHz
After 1400 Hours Portugal becomed weaker....
But Canary still on the TOP.
98.00 MHz Q-FM from Fuerteventura annoncing "Q 98 on 98 & 104.6"
At 1450 got 101.40 MHz Cadena Dial Las Palmas with local ID
"101 punto 4 Cadena Dial Las Palmas !!"
At 1640 another new entrie :

quite BORING station with program from Madrid studios, no local ID.
Not so many new entries but ...always emotions from Costa de la Luz !

Today 9 June the storms are everywhere in Spain & Catalunya.
Yesterday I had a regular travel from Playa La Barrosa near Chiclana
30 Km south from Cadiz, at 1359 the Bus Chiclana to Sevilla direct Express
arrived in time from Algeciras, and at 1605 I arrived in Sevilla Bus Station
Prado de San Sebastian, near the giant Park of Rey Isabel. I met Jose Amodio an
FM listener living near Sevilla, and we stay at the Bar in the Bus station,
doing an accurate FM Band scan
... and Jose also tested how works DEGEN 1103 & ATS 909 (reading PICODES).
The uptodate Bandscan of FM Sevilla will be edited later on by me.
At 1845 I took the Aereopuerto BUS cost 2,30 Euro....
the schedule is every hour... !!!!!!!! not every 30 minutes ...
so be careful to calculate the time to keep it..or you will be later on for your
flight or for your BUS/Train connections...
At 2000 hours the sky becomed dark ... but still no TORMENTAS / STORMS
Flight departed at 2100 and arrived at 2240 ... I had SEAT 23 F
with no one near me...so I had my usual FM FLIGHT bandscan ...
some Arabic stations heard ..but not so many as in the flight Barcelona-Sevilla.

Flight crossed a strong turbulence and so we had FREE DANCE on the Jetplane at
11000 meters....hi !!!!!!
At 2250 I met Jordi Brunet who patiently was waiting for my arrival ... too late
to ...go to eat at CASABLANCA RESTAURANT in VILANOVA....
At 0800 this morning Wednesday I wake up cause strong ZOTs due to a Tormenta on
the Vilanova area... at 1000 hours another Big Tormenta...
Well later on this afternoon I will go to Barcelona Port by Metro Train to keep
the Ferry at 2300 hours to go to Baleares, the arrival is expected at 0630
tomorrow morning... but if there are Marine Hurricanes ... may be later....on
I expect to be at Cala Millor beach, in Hotel Voramar at around 1100
hours...SOON READY to try FM listenings !

Yesterday I arrived safe and well here in Cala Millor at Hotel Voramar
around 1000 hours.... at 1200 hours i was at TERRAZZA listening place at 5 floor
of te Hotel.

Well ....NOTHING just local FM signals ....
I was almost sleeping till 1655 hours local time 1455 UTC, and finally RAI 1
Sardegna apparead un 88.9 MHz ....
But in 5 minutes it started a BIG Esporadic opening... as reported also by Pedro
Monino living in the area of Manacor 30 km far from Cala Millor....first towards
Marocco & Andalucia .... yes boys ...
I heards some of the FM stations local in Cadiz area .... in Esporadic
really a surprise for me ....
Around 1800 hours opening started ALSO towards Greece.... almost all Greece but
many FM signals from Patras area... some even so strong to get in my ATS 909 the
PICODES....
The opening continued till 2000 hours local time ...still going on !
I written 3 pages of details .... will do the list in coming days ...
This morning I was ready at 0915 local time ... but in Italy the opening was
reported starting at 063o UTC ...
Signals was a real confusion !! Germany, Italy, France, Austria,
Nederlands ....in first hour...after dominating from Germany...
so strong and on ALL frequencies almost till 94.00 MHz...
What will be the next .....

Cala Millor
After the BIG start the 10 June the day of my arrival at Cala Millor Gulf in the
north east coast of Mallorca with opening Esporadic from 1500 UTC till 1805 UTC,
I got another good Esporadic opening the early morning of the 11 June friday
from 0645 UTC till 0815 UTC.
Same openings hours has been reported in Italy, Ukraine, UK, Catalunya.
Also my good friend Pedro Monino reported same openings here in Mallorca Isle,
he lives in Manacor around 30 km from my position.

Before to continue the report I wish to print the listenings realized on 10 June
friday by Pedro Monino so you may confront them with mine done at Cala Millor
distant 30 Km.
Please any suggestion with the 2 UNID stations Reported by Pedro ???
Hola a todos,
Caray, qué suerte he tenido hoy. A las 18 llevo a mi hija a natación y
la recojo a las 19'30, en ese intérvalo suelo quedar por la zona y
empiezo siempre dando un repasito al dial; pues bien, hoy me he
encontrado con una buena apertura esporádica, cuando hemos vuelto a casa
he ido sintonizando una emisora griega como si fuera local con ligero
desvanecimiento.
Al principio entraba Andalucía (un puñado) y Marruecos (un montón); a
eso de las 18'44 bruscamente la zona anterior ha desaparecido dando paso
a Grecia.
Cuando he apagado el RX eran casi las 20'00, es decir, prácticamente dos
horas de esporádicas. Hacía muuuuuuuuuuuuuucho que no pillaba una así.
Ahora me toca pasar los apuntes a limpio e identificar emisores. Gran
parte de las marroquíes tenían RDS, afortunadamente; no ocurría lo mismo
con las griegas, de las cuale solo un puñado lo tenía o se materializaba.
Esta experiencia me ha enseñado dos cosas, que el Silvercrest que
adquirí hace unos meses es bueno para el DX y que todavía es posible
practicar la afición en Mallorca, a pesar del cada vez más congestionado
dial de la FM.
Las horas mecionadas son hora oficial española.
Volveré sobre el tema.
Primera entrega de las escuchas de la esporádica del pasado 10 de junio. Van las
emisoras captadas de 16'05 a 16'27 UTC con el AutoRadio SilverCrest desde
Manacor.

After that great Monday 14 June the conditions fall down the Tuesday 15 June,
due to a cold front on north Spain Peninsula and south France,
so really no surprises to listen almost nothing the 15 June.
In the afternoon we got some thin rains so again nothing at all...hi!
Wednesday 16 June we wanted to try from the hill dominating the Cala Millor gulf,
called "Mirador de calle Eivissa" and located 9 kM from Cala Millor, in the town
of Son Servera.
So at 0845 we kept a Taxi with old but clever Taxi driver and for just 5 Euros
we arrived at the listening point.
Need to add the place is a bit Spartan, no Bars, No Restaurants, nothing at all
!!! I placed my Hotel towels on the border of the street, and sit down, I
noticed ...some aunts... mostly little ones, doing their usual JOB..to search
for food for their community ...
But this matter has been not appreciated by Gianni ...who seems to be allergic
to aunts...
From 0655 UTC till 0855 UTC I got many TROPO stations from SARDINIA, which did
not arrived in the Terrazza of Cala Millor Hotel (25 meters high) thehill is
around 250 meters high....
This makes the difference.... from this hill Pedro Monino two years ago got in
July signals from MALTA !!!!

From that point I called a Taxi with my mobile and in 20 minutes I was again
atop the Voramar... ride cost just 6 Euros.
The ESporadic opening was still running even if it was RAINIG !!!
with signals from Greece & Turkey & Maroc !!! for exemple :

From 1700 till 1830 UTC more Maroc ESporadics
we also had an UNID in French on 88.90 MHz

Not a bad day ...thinking to the raining conditions in the afternoon.

Thursday we had sunny day , more warm temperatures ...
Gianni wanted to try the listening place of the AHMER Castle
located south respect Hotel Voramar , just 5 kM distant.
However no ESporadics detected , just TROPO from Catalunya coast
In the afternoon Gianni changed listening place going to north just 4 kM to
COSTA DEL PINS.... but again with no lucky ...no ESporadics and even NO Tropo
conditions...

Friday ...last day for Gianni ...he started his travel by Hotel Bus service to
Airport of Palma at 1000 hours ... cost 12 Euros..
Another day with no conditions ...even local stations in Mallorca Isle resulted
fair !!
A very cold air from north west all the day blowed on the Terraza...
Quite disappointing but you know this is the aspect of the FM DX hobby... hi
!!!!

The morning has started very badly on the Meteo view point...
thin rains around 0645 UTC.... again no conditions at all ...
Europa FM in their morning show put some "CISTES" funny questions ...
Do you know who is the mother of the TOPO ??¿¿¿ ( Rat mother name )
"LA MADRE DEL TOPO ES LA TOPA MADRE !!!"
So it becomed even more glaced conditions after this idiotness !!
Next report will be a bit laer cause Sunday the Cyber point Cala Millor is
closed and on Monday I will start my travel to come back to Barcelona at 0900
hours local time...

right at 1145 UTC the storm started with heawy rains and soon winds and iced
stones rains.... I tentatively continued to listen but the storm resulted so
heawy I needed to ...recover in the Hotel stair area ....next to Terrazza ....
Riders and iced rain stones look like the golf balls ... created a noise so
high....
Only at 1158 UTC I was able to return in the listening place...still raining
...and you can't imagine the sourprise to listen

A very paricular day almost for me really unexpected to get good ESporadics
reception while a big storm was running on my head...
